Y November Birthday Celebrations~

last saturday was so busy for me.
first of all, it was my godbrother's wedding which i wasn't invited to.
before you start thinking that it's weird,
i'm not the least bit close to him even though he's my godbrother.

anyhow, i had to drive ah ma to his place for the tea ceremony in the morning.
after dropping her off, winnie and i went to toast box for breakfast.
after breakfast, we picked her up again.

a photo of ah ma and her mum.

because of his wedding, i became like some 发布中心.
my grandaunt and godma would sent me all those photos taken and i've got to forward to ma, ah yi and huat jiujiu.
seriously...

for a moment, i was like "omg! isn't that bridesmaid rebecca??"
even debbie and may hui agreed with me!
but, it proved to be someone else.

moving on.
after sending ah ma home, i went back home to get ready for that night's dinner at rise at mbs.
we had planned to celebrate both may hui's and javier's birthday there.

it so happened that it was the first day of Chanel's Little Black Jacket Exhibition over at the art science museum.
of course i had to go take a look at it.

after looking at the exhibition and shopping around,
we headed for dinner at rise.

i do think that the buffet spread at rise is just slightly better than over at the line.
for me, the most worthwhile sections are the seafood, desserts and bread.

there was quite a big selection of breads.
and i didn't try any which wasn't nice.
but, some of them are super duper hard.
i love them though!

when i go for buffets, i usually don't fancy the dessert corner.
this time round, i was pleasantly surprised by their desserts.
the tarts were nice and all the chocolate desserts i tried were so good.
i'm wondering if they sell whole chocolate cakes.

yup.
that's that.

Y driving randoms~

just sharing some random bits about "driving".

[[ colour ]]

i actually changed the colour of my car to a bright red last december.
it was perfect timing because i just left my car at the workshop before going to bkk.
the job took about a week.

anyway, there's a little story as to why bai baba and i decided that we ought to change the colour.
but we shall not get into that.

i didn't like the original red my car make came in,
so i ended up choosing a mazda red, if you do get me.
i'm almost certain that my car is the only make in that particular red and it's way more beautiful than the original.

needless to say, there's a price tag to changing the outlook of the car.
but, we did somehow recuperate the cost through some other means.
so you can say that the job was free of charge.

the other day when i was washing my car, i was actually approached by this guy who was also washing his car.
he asked me about my car colour and stuff.

i was like 'woo... someone did notice that my car changed its colour. it must be really eye catching and pretty now. wow.'
i mean... even though this came like more than half a year later.

[[ tyres ]]

so that day, i drove into an Esso petrol station to pump my tyres.
the thing about my tyres is i'm constantly paranoid about them.

first off, i started worrying about when exactly do i have to change them.
so finally came the time i had to change them, i was 'phew.. load off.'.
now, whenever i go to a tyre shop to fix whatever crap, or send my car for servicing,
i'll definitely ask the mechanic when i have to change them.

next up, i started worrying about flat tyres.
that was because i experienced it once and i had to call a mechanic to come and fix it for me.

from that day onwards, i'm forever checking on them.
'mmm.. this looks flat to me. maybe i should go pump it before something happens.'

anyway, i'm very used to pumping my own tyres.
like who doesn't especially if you're a frequent driver?

but when i started out, i was like how the heck am i supposed to do this?
and no one EVER volunteered to help.

however, that day was so different.
i was approached by this guy who works there and he actually volunteered to do it for me!
the first time ever since i started driving.

OMG.

honestly, that was such a nice gesture.
mind you, there was a slight drizzle that day.

i genuinely appreciated his gesture.
even though i ended up rejecting his offer and doing it by myself.

p/s: if you encounter punctured tyres or a flat battery here or even in jb,
you can call steve at 96888773.

he saved me twice.

1. the flat tyre incident.

2. one chinese new year eve, i stupidly forgot to off the hazard lights and happily went for reunion dinner.
by the time i came back, i obviously couldn't start the car.
wonderful.

it's of course going to be way cheaper if you can manage to get to a workshop on your own.
but hey!
i'm desperate for help!
i need someone on site to solve my problem.

yup.
take down that number if you're a driver and have no one to turn to during such times.
he may be your savior too.

Y Europe Day 7~

now, for the long awaited continuation of my europe series.
finally.

i'm sorry it took so long,
but i honestly didn't realise it had been THIS long already.
what can i say?
time flies.

let's start with the breakfast that day.
obviously it was a very "grand" spread, given the hotel we were staying at.
but just how much can one stomach for breakfast?

i didn't have time to take much photos of breakfast.
so here's my take on breakfast.
you know i love my bread by now right?

moving on to morning view that day.

there were people sky gliding in the park right in front of the hotel.
i think that's what it's called.

the first stop that day was Kleine Scheidegg.
the scenery on our way up there was breathtaking and to die for.
again, we were so busy snapping, snapping and snapping.
it's just mad overwhelming to decide which photos are the ones worth posting.

well...
i'm going to admit that i did a sloppy job choosing the photos.
to me, they are all very nice.

this, is my favourite picture.
everyone in the train was so excited as we went past the cows and my bro managed to get this epic shot.
doesn't it look like the cow was posing for him?

i seriously don't think many people got such an epic shot because everything happened within that few seconds.
the cow was back to eating its grass as soon as it lifted its head.

my bro was like "i got it! i got it!" as though we won some big prize.
haha.

on the other hand, i got this shot.
haha.
the lady was nice enough to pose for us.

for lunch, we had swiss rosti with sausage.
it was nice, but we were still full from breakfast.

check out my CHF5 coke.
seriously.
what's with the coke crave/ craze in europe?!
i just had to give in to my intense craving despite the crazy price.

bai baba's tiam jiat pose.
hahaha!
i really think he did a great job!
don't you agree?

we didn't fare too badly either right?

dessert was some kind of milk pudding.

guess what we did after lunch?
we spent like 10 minutes shopping in a souvenir shop nearby and after which i suggested taking jump shots of my bro again.
haha.

perfect jump shot.
i thought this was just oh so nice!

photo taken by james just before we left the place.
it would have been so nice if ma didn't decide to hide there.
= =

the next stop was Lucerne which was a couple of hours ride away.
we reached there in the late afternoon.

the lion monument.
we weren't keen on taking much photos there simply because the sun was scorching hot.

the day before, james had already told all of us that we could get some bread to feed the swans by the lake.
and where did the bread come from?
breakfast lo...

when it comes to feeding animals, bai baba loves it to the max.
he simply gets so much pleasure and joy from feeding them.

anyway, i got a little pissed off with my bro at this point in time.
he just couldn't take a proper "candid" shot of me feeding the swans.
not even after i showed him what i took of them.
seriously.

so, i ended up with super terrible shots of me feeding the swans.
i even looked like i was "stoning" the swans with bread in a particular photo okay?

i was like.... forget it.
let's just pose to have the picture taken.
candid shots are just a big boo boo for my bro.

isn't it nice just spending your sunday chilling by the lakeside and people watching?

it was so hot that sunday that we stopped by starbucks for a drink.
if my memory serves me right, we ordered a iced chocolate.

we passed by this sweets shop and couldn't resist getting some.
i actually really like this shot of me and the giant macarons.

dinner was mcdonalds.
no big deal.

but.
the ketchup was the REAL big deal.
the girl who served us actually upsized the meals for us without even asking.
instead of cancelling the order, she gave us free ketchup which would have been charged instead.

headed back to the hotel for the night after dinner.

our hotel for the night.
no doubt it wasn't as atas as the day before,
it was pretty decent.

the room had complimentary chocolates, mineral water, sparkling water and......
*drumroll*
COKE!!!

now you know why i love that hotel!

also, the hotel provided a postcard for each room and you could just drop it off at the reception and they would mail it for you for free.

yeap.
i did make use of the complimentary service to mail the postcard back home for souvenir.

i wonder why the hotel didn't choose nicer postcards for their hotel guests.
instead of this ladybug, isn't a scenic view of Switzerland a much better and welcomed choice?

the sweets we bought earlier on in Lucerne.
they were alright, not eactly fabulous.

lastly, ending off with a photo of the sunset that day.
beautiful isn't it?
