now, the long awaited mini post on my hong kong trip.


starting off with the 父子 stall which i had already been to in my previous trip.
i must say the place did improve a little on its hygiene.
the food was more or less as what i remembered it to be.

basically, they served local breakfast like sandwiches and noodles.
and i love how they have peanut butter in their sandwiches.

directions: MTR Central station exit D2.
it's like underneath the Central Mid Levels Escalators.




this 添好运 dim sum place was recommended by my cousin.
apparently, this is a michelin star place.

the one we went to was not the main store, but the branch.
when i was doing my research, i found out that the main store has crazy queues,
so i opted for the branch.

mm..
god damn it.
we had such a difficult time finding this place and the food was mm.. like that lo...
so i wouldn't recommend going to this.
perhaps you can try the main store instead.

anyway, if you're really interested in trying,
here's what you need to know.

Main store's address:旺角廣華街2-20號翠園大樓2期地下8號舖

Branch's address: 深水埗福榮街9-11號地下‎ (9 Fuk Wing Street)
Directions: MTR Sham Shui Po station and be prepared to walk for at least 10 minutes.




another michelin restaurant: Yung Kee Restaurant
this was recommeded by becca.
i actually made an online reservation a week before going on my trip.

this place is kinda upscaled and be prepared to spend some money in there.
but oh my god.
their star dish, the roasted goose, is freaking good!
like OH-MY-GOD delicious.

also, my bro ordered this pigeon dish which mmm.. wasn't that good.
so i say, skip the pigeon.
the goose is a MUST order!

by the way, you can actually buy one back home, but it's going to be a troublesome and oily mess even though they do vacuum pack it for you.

directions: about 5-10 minutes walk from MTR Central station.




as usual, we made a trip to Lantau Island to 拜大佛 and then to citygate outlet after that.

now, that day we went was pretty hot,
so we decided to take a break at those mini shops at the bottom of the 大佛.



we ordered chilled beancurd made with spring water.
i only took the photo after we were almost done with it because we couldn't stop eating?

OMG.
THIS IS A MUST TRY!!!
we ordered the cold beancurd and my bro pointed out that the beancurd was mad smooth.
it was the smoothest cold beancurd he had ever tried.

please don't compare to lao ban beancurd.
this is way better in our opinions!
it tasted like the normal 60 cents beancurd we have in hawker centres,
but with the smoothness of lao ban beancurd.

because it was so good, i had to order a hot version.
the hot one was equally good and best of all, it was STEAMING HOT!
ABSOLUTE LOVE!!!

in case you didn't know, i love my hot stuff to be boiling hot.

didn't i just say that the weather was hot that day?
who cares?
i just happily enjoyed my steaming hot beancurd.

directions: MTR Tung Chung station exit B and take bus 23 or cable car up to 大佛.




we had steamboat at one of the 小肥羊 outlet in mongkok.
you know all those hong kong people love to da pin lo, so it's just a taste of their lifestyle i guess.

this meal wasn't very cheap either and there are quite a few 小肥羊 outlets.
so check out their website to find one nearest to wherever you may be.

directions to the outlet i went to: MTR Mongkok station exit C4.
it's very near to Argyle Centre which is a mall where you can find many small little stores selling clothes and stuff.
a tad like platinum in bkk.




粗菜馆 was recommended by a 'friend' of mine.
she said that this place is one of those recommended by 蔡瀾 who is a very famous food critic in hong kong.
and it serves those 家常小菜.





this, is yet another place i would recommend you to try.
i can't pin point what is so nice about it,
it's just worth trying.

we went to Lamma Island because ma wanted to.
it's more of a relaxing kind of activity where you walk around and explore.

the landmark there was the lamma winds which is the wind mill.
we didn't make it there because it seems to be quite a distance from the harbour.

we had lunch there and even posted a postcard back home for bai baba from the post office on the island.
oh yes, we did a fair bit of shopping in one of the shops there.
we got like clothes, bracelets and even a clock for our kitchen.
the stuff there just have that handicraft kind of feel to them.




directions: ferry service from Central Pier 4 which is just opposite IFC mall.
walking from MTR Central station exit A to the pier would take at least 15 minutes or you can choose to alight at MTR Hong Kong station exit F and walk for about 5-10 minutes.

there are ferry services to two parts of lamma island, yung shue wan and sokkwu wan.
the one we went to was yung shue wan.




we spent almost a day in macau too.

directions: ferry from Hong Kong China Ferry Terminal which is located near to habour city.
Approximately 10-15 minutes walk from MTR Tsim Sha Tsui station.

once we reached macau, we took bus 3 to get to the Ruins of St Paul's.
i'm sorry to say that i totally forgot which bus stop we alighted at.

i must say that the people at the information counter in macau ferry terminal weren't very friendly and helpful at all.
also, macau's map just seem to be so much harder to use as compared to hong kong's one.

anyhow, that place was packed with tourists even though we went on a thursday.
on the way up to the Ruins of St Paul's,
we found the popular Koi Kei Bakery which sells food 'souvenirs'.



i am so~~~~ in love with these almond cookies.
this is the handmade version which is more expensive.
but i do think that the price is all worth it.

on a side note, i was in chinatown before cny and was so happy to see koi kei opening an outlet here.
but.
i do think their products are seriously marked up.
this box costs $34.50.

no doubt i can't remember how much i paid in macau,
i highly doubt that it's as much as $34.50.

if you're only going to hong kong,
no worries.
there are koi kei outlets in hong kong itself.
again, the prices are slightly marked up.

that's about all i have to share for my hong kong trip.
you can be sure that this isn't going to be the last time i'm going there.

here's the long overdue hong kong haul post.



first off, i bought a random iphone 4 cover from the ladies market.
i think this was the only item i bought from there because it was raining the night we were there.
by the way, it's supposed to lilac in colour.






i went sasa and watsons every single day i was in hong kong.
those places were like heaven and i just wouldn't get sick of them.

i grabbed a box of my beauty diary masks because they were really cheap.
also, they came in such pretty boxes too!
i'm down to my last 5 or so masks.

1| dollywink lashes in no 9 natural dolly
i love the one in yellow packaging, so i thought i should try this out.

2| fairydrops mascara
this has so many different variations that i took damn long to settle on this one.
again, it's much cheaper in hk.

3| hada labo air bb cream
this was bought from watsons and i've yet to see it in sg.
i was actually comtemplating if i should get this because i had picked up a tinted moisturizer earlier on and i'm pretty sure this is made in china.

oh well.. hada labo products have yet to disappoint me.
no harm trying.

i must say i quite like this stuff!
the shade suits me perfectly.
if my memory serves me right, this only comes in one shade.

it does even out my skintone and give a tad more coverage than my usual laura mercier tinted moisturizer.

maybe i ought to get bacca to buy a backup for me when she goes to hk.
it's cheap and good.
i like!

4| eyelashes fixer ex
in case you didn't read my post like probably 3 years ago,
this is my favourite eyelash glue.
hands down.

it's a ton easier to use than the duo eyelash glue you get from mac.
it just make application so easy and fuss free.
and.
it keeps your falsies on the entire day.

the irony is i've yet to use all those eyelash related products.
i'm probably putting makeup like twice a month or something.
and i've just been neglecting my lashes.




more from watsons.

this lux super damage repair is SUPER good and this was just a super random item added to my basket.
i'm a tad bumped about this because i'm running very low on this.
this shall be added to the list of stuff i want bacca to help me get.

the lavshuca lipstick is in shade BE-7.
it's seem to be pretty moisturizing.
but i've yet to try it out.
ha.




this, is the other tinted moisturizer that i bought during the trip.
oh my,  i can buy like 5 of the hada labo one with this.
it's 640 HKD, approx S$110.
mad expensive i know!

but i just couldn't pass this up.
especially when i've heard so much raves about it and this brand is NOT available here.




the other chantecaille product i got was the jasmine and lily healing mask.
according to the SA, i can leave this on overnight and it's safe for the eyes area too.

as per the photo, the mask is kinda of thick creamy consistency.
i love using this fortnightly after the lush mask of magnaminty.

this was even more expensive at 790HKD.
but at least i find it to be worth the price.
i do wake up with well moisturized and plump skin the next day.

lastly, bracelets from the trip.
the first two from the left were from accessorize, the third from a shop on lamma island and the last was from h&m.
