apparently, there has been some hype going on with regards to esprique precious coffret that was launched not too long ago.



for $48, you get a blush, a cream eyeshadow, a lip gloss, a nail polish.
sounds like a pretty great deal huh??

i was pretty much tempted as well,
so i checked it out some time back.

gosh.
it sucks.

i think it's pretty obvious that the blush is the hightlight of the coffret.
but it sucks.

when the SA swatched it for me,
i could even feel that she herself was not convinced by the product.

anyway, here are why i think the set is not worth the money.

1. you can't swirl your brush in the pan and mix the four colours.
it's like the compact blush would turn into some powder blush out of the blue and the powder just flies everywhere.

i wonder which idiots were comparing this with jill stuart's compacts.
it's so obvious jill's is much more worth my money.
not that i'm biased.

2. the pigmentation is like .. wow.
i see more glitter/ shimmers than colours.

so even if you pat on more blush to layer for a more intensified colour,
your cheeks would highly likely to turn out to be more glittery/ shimmery than it is more pink/ orange.

3. the colours are too frosty.
especially for my liking.

i hate frosty colours.

4. i did try the cream eyeshadow.
and it's so glittery/ shimmery again.
you may end up looking like you've got two disco balls if you go overboard.

yesh.
so i would rather spend that $48 and go invest in those drugstore brands than this coffret.

anyhow, i was telling muay fan this today when we met up.
and she was saying that many people are buying this set and blah blah..
then she concluded "but i trust you. you rarely give that 'it sucks' comment, so it must be really sucky."

despite that, we still went down to have her swatched it herself.
after that, she merely give me that "i get what you mean" look.

something else.
there isn't pretty anything that seems to be able to entice me these days.
it's soooo~~ boring.

i guess the only cosmetic i'm looking forward to is a new nars blush.
getting winnie to bring it back for me from japan.

i've decided not to look for swatches this time round.
just merely relying on descriptions to make up my mind on which shade to get.

this gorgeous moisturizer is by far lush's most expensive moisturizer.
and it's A LOT more expensive than the rest.
it's retailing at 85.45 usd on its website.
that.
for just a 1.5oz of it.

i've used this...

less than 5 times..
a lot huh??

i can't say that i love it.
more like i'm indifferent to it, hence the number of times i've tried it.

n i mentioned before that it has a smell to it..
some kind of rose? flora??
i don't know what smell lar..
but you'll sort of get used to it soon.

as for texture wise,
it looks very creamy, but it's actually pretty light.


verdict:

不值得!

if you really want to try, perhaps get a trial sized from ebay.com.
but remember, the moisturizer will probably expire in less than a yr.

for the second item.
queen helene mint jelup masque mask.

dear friends,
this is such a GREAT deal!

for $5.80, you get a 2oz sample sized one.
for $10.99, you get the 8oz full sized one.
and..
all come with free normal postage!

cheap not?!

basically, i use it once a week to deep cleanse.
i try my best to alternate this with the kiehl's clay mask i've got.
sad to sad,
ever since this came, i've been neglecting my kiehl's one.
haha.

every time i squeeze out quite a bit coz i like my mask to be on the thicker side.
it makes me feel as though i need a lot of product to suck out all those impurities in my skin.
so i reckon the 2oz one i got can last me for about 8-12 usage.


[[ pros ]]

one-
i've read reviews about how good it is to remove blackheads.
and you know what?

it seems to be doing that.
i mean.. not as in removing them all at one go..
but at least, it's doing it bit by bit.

why i think so?
have you realised that after using conventional nose strips,
your nose kinda feels smoother to touch?

i have.
and that's the exact same touch i get after using this mask.


two -
you can use it as a pimple treatment, especially those humongous ones.
dab some of it on those erupting zits and go to bed.
when you wake up the next morning, you will find that the pimple is pretty much dried up.


[[ cons ]]

one -
it has this really strong mint smell.
exactly like those chewing gums.

sorry.
i HATE the smell of minty chewing gums.

oh.
and you've got it all over your face?
it's as though u buah toothpaste instead.
imgaine that.

but well..
i shall just put up with that smell.


two -
after removing the mask, your skin may feel pretty dry and tight.
so, always remember to have on moisturizer right after it.

no matter how gao your moisturizer is,
you find that it's absorbed exceptionally fast.

the last item - egyptian magic cream.
just as the name suggests, i think it's MAGICAL.

i'm so~~~~~ in love with this.
it's just magical, fab, wonderful.

the one enormous plus point about this is,
it's a MULTI PURPOSED oil based cream which smells like... oil?
i don't know..
but the smell isn't the least bit overwhelming.

i apply it for every crap problem i've got on my body.
now, i'm going to explain what i use it for and that can be a tad long.
and you guys might be thinking i'm having so much problems!
hahaha.

be patient okay?
if not, just skip the whole chunk!

one -
on those scars on my knees.

there is this particular scar which i didn't even know exist.
and gosh..
it's so~~ pigmented that i was like "die lar.. this one hopeless le man.."

but wrong!
it's now at least 2 shades lighter.

and mind you..
for the past 3 weeks, there are days when i was simply too lazy to apply any shit on my body before popping into bed.

see.. even without consistent application,
my scar faded and became lighter.


two -
my hands have these small little non itchy bumps near the wrist and elbow areas.
no idea why.

tried and applied it to those places.
the bumps did subside..
but it took quite a while.

mmm...
the other cream i got from the dr was more effective.

so... if you have such bumps and you don't have that cream i got from the dr,
you can apply the magic cream and remember to be patient about the results.


three -
on my cuticles which are very dry.
= =

as for the results?
it improved from very dry to dry.
haha.


four -
i guess three and four may be combined.
using it as my hand cream as well.
though it's a tad hard to spread the cream on both hands.

i tend to use quite a bit and it takes some time, say less than 5 minutes, for my hands to quit looking like they've been dipped into a container of oil.

five -
because my hands are like soo oily, i rubbed them through my hair.
so it becomes a leave in hair conditioner as well!

so you know, after running through my hair,
my hands ought to be not as oily as before right?

wrong.
i will scoop more magic and run it through my hair again.
hahaha.
i'm obsessed with that!!

after that, just give your hair a good brush,
and it will be soo~~~ smooth!


six -
recently discovered.

these days, my fingernails can be a little sharp.
and.. i end up scratching myself.
= =

so those scratches have just that tiny bit of blood to them.
guess what?

i decided to be adventurous and just swipe a bit of magic on them.
with the bit of "blood" still there.
no pain factor involved.

mind you.
such scratches can be so damn bitchy coz they can be painful when in contact with water.
= =

surprising, those scratches heal a lot faster the next day!
it's like better than leaving them alone or dabbing 青草油 on them [probably make you scream like a pig].

i mean..
of course don't go and try applying magic on those bigger wounds.
i totally got no idea what will happen.

just experimenting with tiny winy "wounds" i've got.


seven-
i tried applying it on my face and it turned out to be a tad too oily.
however, this will be a great face moisturizer if you're in a dry place, ie. air con room.


now do you agree with me that it's living up to its name??
