sweets we bought to share among ourselves.

i can't say i'm a sweet person.
my brother is though.

but.
i LOVE the orange ones with that bit of green wrapper at the sides.
in fact i'm always on a look out for them.
and this is the first time i ever managed to find it.

here's a little story behind those sweets.

i remember my late great grandfather used to give us little ones these sweets.
in my memory, he was never a person to mess around with.
it's always wise to "keep away" from him.
he always seemed to be stern.

so i guess the only times we ever interacted with him was when he gave us such sweets and ang baos during cny.

despite such minimal contact,
it's surprising that we, the great grandchildren, will always associate this sweet, this taste with him and even call it the '老公公糖'.

we were even waving the bag of sweets in front ah ma that day,
exclaiming "ah ma! see!! 老公公糖!"

well...

anyhow, i actually dreamt of him not too long ago.
that's like the first time since he passed on like twelve years ago.
i thought it was...

i don't know how to describe this.
it's just that feeling of having not seen someone for such a long time.

alright, enough said.
i may be well restocking my 老公公糖 next week.
ha.

i got sin because muay fan kept saying that she thinks that that's going to be a worthwhile colour.
it's described as berry with gold shimmers on the website.

mmm.. it's not bad a colour.
something more of a obvious purple tone for me.
and that's new.

as for exhibit A?
i'm OBSESSED with that colour after coming across a youtube video.
the description is brilliant red and how true is that?

i know some of you must be thinking that i gana some gong tao to desire for exhibit A like mad.
and no, i'm not going for some wayang or whatsoever.

of course, this exhibit A is a total unique in my stash.
and i'm going to prove that i can blend out that colour till it gets very wearable for a day look.

now, here's where i got my nars from:
KISS AND MAKEUP

it took 8 days after payment for the items to reach and this is really considered to be very fast.
also, there's the attractive flat international shipping rate of US$7.95, with some exclusion though.

so you bet i'll be getting/replenishing my nars, laura mercier stuff from there.

received the opi nail lacquers i ordered in the mail this evening.
i must say i was very impressed with the "packaging" and what's more?
there were like 6 nail files thrown in for free.

alright.
it isn't as though the nail files rock..
but at least they can be used for at least once each right?



the bottles were carefully bubble wrapped and placed in those netted pouches.
i ordered 4..
1 is for winnie and another 1 was a pre order.





the shades i got this time round.

to be honest, i'm damn disappointed with the way tutti frutti tonga turned out.
the colour i remembered was a pinkish nude colour.
but the one i got was clearly pink.

and this leads to the other part of the story.
i emailed the site owner, melva, and told her REALLY NICELY that there was a clear difference between what i expected and what i got.

i was actually feeling quite a tad over the top over the issue.
but..
melva was REALLY nice and patient, explaining to me that opi does modify its shades from time to time.
and damn shit.
i've got the supposedly "improved" version.

wth.
damn opi.
this current tutti frutti tonga is sooooooo much more inferior compared to the previous one!

anyhow, because of melva's superb service,
i hereby HIGHLY recommend her site opi nail lacquers at a mere $10.90 each, exclusive of postage.

she replies very promptly to emails/ smses all the time.
this, i think is the way things should be when you're operating your own business.

this is going to be a lengthy post!
i've been going to town like 4 days this week.
that's crazy huh?

let's start with ah ma's birthday which we celebrated yesterday.
we decided to have lana's chocolate cake coz ah ma loves it..
we probably do order lana's cake once in a year.

as usual, we had to be discreet when we ordered [ to avoid letting godma know about it].
guess what?
less than a minute after we stepped into the store,
godma came out of the kitchen and obviously spotted us.

DAMN.

and.
the best part was she saw us come into the store from the monitor in the kitchen.
ie. there is a camera in the store.

and.
she was looking out for us since she knew it was her sis's bday and suspected that we would be going there for cakes.

i guess the next time we do order lana's cake,
we can forget about being discreet and just texted godma the order.

anyhow, for the first time i felt so VIP-ish and even got to go into the kitchen.
gosh.
so many chocolate cakes!!

besides heavily discounted cakes, vips enjoy.....
SILVER BALLS on their cakes!!

managed to meet up with pet and deb on friday for the movie tooth fairy.
i thought it was pretty funny.
another zero brain usage movie.
after which we had dinner and chatted for quite a while at cartel.

oh.
i dyed my hair that day.

pet said my hair colour is very ah lian.
deb said it's nice.
my kid said the colour is stupid.

this is the look of the day when i was out with muay fan today.

here's the "story" behind it.

i got some makeup forever liquid foundation samples from sephora and i tried the mat velvet + one today.
and it's really MATTE.
too MATTE in fact.

i must have been too light handed with my laura mericer blush.
it seems like there wasn't much colour on my cheeks when i met muay fan.

so.
i decided i had to touch up.

and..
we went sephora and planted ourselves in front of the smashbox counter [because there wasn't any SA there].

then......
i started buahing blusher on my cheeks.

hahahahahaha!!!
seriously.
this is the FIRST time i ever did this.

i even cleaned the kabuki brush that i used before applying the blusher onto my cheeks alright!

anyway.
i must say im not a fan of smashbox blusher.
they are just not pigmented enough for me.

so now..
you think that i'm alright with my cheeks.

NO.

we came out of sephora and thought that the smashbox blusher wasn't good enough.
so... we headed for shu uemura counter at taka because i had wanted to try a shade way before this episode.

for god knows what reason..
nobody seemed to want to entertain us.

even when i asked to try on the colours, the SA just pointed the brushes at the side and gestured to me to try them on myself.

wow.
great service you've got.

fine.
i stood at the counter and started buahing the blusher on.
super thick skinned.
i'm well aware of that.

guess what?
i used THREE brushes to get the effect i wanted.
afterall nobody was paying attention to us, so i just took my time to blend.

honestly, if the SA had tried on the colour on me and if it was really nice,
i would have gotten it.
but too bad..

anyway.

i've got real bad experiences with mac nail lacquers.
but i really had to get this blissed out because of its colour.
luckily it turned out to be quite alright.

also, i've back to mac for a new lipstick.
but i forgot to include in the photo.
well...
next time huh..



went on a mask craze at sasa.
i personally recommend those skinvitals sheet masks which is at the right hand corner of the photo.
they are afforable at a mere $1.95 each and each sheet adheres very well to your face.

as for the "daily fresh" masks,
they come in wash off or peel off types.
got them because this japanese blogger recommended them.

lastly, the 美肌一族 masks are loaded with serums.
but also, pretty ex.

anyway, if you buy $15 of 美肌一族 products from sasa,
you get this travel pack for free.




i'm like super excited over this travel pack.
it comes with:
- toothpaste and toothbrush
- cotton pad, cotton bud and hair tie

i need a new one.
so i've been longing for this since i saw tiffany d's review on it.

alright...
actually i was more tempted to try out nars sheer glow.
but... i can't simply get that online because i've got no idea which is my shade.

2. nars blush

the site which i plan to get the blush from has finally restocked.
so the shade i want is AVAILABLE!!

maybe i will get two to three shades or maybe even a new laura mercier concealer since there's a flat international shipping rate of USD7.95!

i just went through the website again and i'm so tempted to get tons of things.

i don't think this collection has been launched in town,
but it should be soon.

i've got at least ONE blush shade in mind:
Joie- de- Vivre which is a peachy coral shade.

you've got no idea how i LOVE peach/ apricot/ coral blushers!
they're my LIFE!

anyway, this blush craze of mine did died down for a while.
but it's back now!!

this is getting crazy especially when i'm aiming at a handful of mac spring's collections.
mostly those that have blushers, especially those pro colours!!!

interesting right?

now..
i LOVE the ones from lim chee guan.

but you know what?
after tasting the bua kua from its 3 outlets,
i conclude that i will either queue for it at the main outlet or not have bua kua.
seriously, the quality rocks at the main and sucks at the remaining two branches.

bai baba ever bought bua kua from the one at people's park complex.
i ate it without knowing it was from lim chee guan and never realised that after finishing it either.
it was just way way below standard!

from then on, i made my family boycott that people's park complex outlet.

then.. the one at ion opened.
so i thought let's try it.

guess what?
the bua kua from there was kinda soft and very oily.
after eating it, you have to wash your fingers with soap.

and the other day, not too long after i bought from the ion outlet,
bai baba bought some from the main store.

gosh!
it was HEAVEN!

the bua kua is harder, has less fats and best of all, less oily.
you only have to rinse your fingers with water and that's good enough!

yesh..
so i HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend bua kua from the main store.
its address is 203 new bridge road.

there's plan to go queue for bua kua with bacca just before cny.
hopefully the queue wouldn't be way too crazy.

no special occasion..
just another weekend dinner with the family.

the moment bai baba suggested going there,
i immediately thought of deb.
she had a very bad experience there before.

but i guess we're fine.
the ambience was good..
with the live singing [is that what you called it?] and the cool sea breeze..
decent food with beer.

basically i love the place.
because it's just a great place to have a nice dinner.
the mega plus point is it's not packed with people on a sunday night.

but.
i think we ALL overate this evening.
in fact i'm like 饱到头顶 already.

how's everyone's first day of the year?
i hope it has been a good one.

as usual, we had a great view of the fireworks at midnight.
there were as many as 10 separate displays of fireworks there in msia.

anyhow, the day had been spent slacking around.
so relaxing!

god knows why it's always raining on the day of the party.

food was so so..
we barely had much to eat because we were the latest to get there.
